Valerie joined One Family, Inc. in 2006, transitioning from her prior positions as Director of Program Development and Director of the One Family Scholars Program to become the Executive Director in June 2012. Valerie received a B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University Bloomington. She is also a graduate of the Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership at Boston University and LeadBoston (Class of 2010).
Director of Programs
Matthew joined One Family in June 2012. As Director of Programs he is responsible for managing the One Family Scholars program as well as identifying and developing new opportunities for One Family to increase our impact and engagement across the Commonwealth. Prior to joining One Family, Matthew worked with parents through a variety of organizations including the Institute for Responsive Education, the Boston Parent Organizing Network, and as the coordinator of the Family Support Program at the Tobin K-8 School in Roxbury. Matthew has a B.A. in English and Education from Northeastern University and an Ed.M. from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Judith joined One Family in March 2016. As Program Coordinator, Judith works with a caseload of Scholars offering them academic advising and career coaching. Prior to joining One Family, Judith was a high school teacher in a Title I school in North Philadelphia. She taught Honors African American History as well as African American History for English Language Learners. In addition to teaching, Judith founded and facilitated a Peer Mediation program at Olney Charter High School. Judith has a B.A. in International and Global Studies from Brandeis University and an Ed.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
Consulting Director of Development
Wendy has over twenty years of experience creating and implementing development plans for clients ranging from institutions of higher education to cultural organizations to health and social service agencies. Wendy received her B.A. and her M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy from Tufts University. Prior to establishing Ballinger Consulting, she served for a decade as the Executive Director of Bostonís Ford Hall Forum, and later joined the organization's board. She also served on the staff of the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and as a staff member in the Massachusetts Legislature.
